Oil plays a crucial role in cooking. But what makes all the difference in their taste, aroma, and flavor is the method by which they are pressed and cold pressing is the one recommended. It is a common way to make oil without the use of chemicals and heat, by crushing the material into a paste and applying force to separate the oil from the pulp; thus retaining nutritional and beneficial compounds.
Contrary to regular and refined oils, cold pressed oils contain unsaturated fat which is healthy and protect body from blood pressure, cholesterol, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, type 2 diabetes and chronic illnesses.
Cold pressed and regular oils have different nutritional content, in that cold pressed oils are rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K.
Please note that cold pressed oils are used for preparing food at medium or low temperature, otherwise it will lose its nutritional compounds and flavor. However, for preparing food at high temperature, it is recommended that you use refined oils.
